Discover land Records in Queensland

Did your ancestor have an agricultural farm, a pastoral property or a suburban block? What’s the difference between freehold and leasehold lands? What has been indexed, digitised and online? Why do you still need to visit the Queensland State Archives in person? This session looks at land records held by the Queensland State Archives, State Library of Queensland, digitised newspapers and Queensland Government Gazettes. Records explored include land selection files, suburban and town sales, estate maps, rate records, transmissions by death and more. Personal examples from the speaker’s own family history will be used to show the usefulness of the various records.
