The Genealogical Society of Queensland conducts a program of events including classes, seminars, workshops and education sessions each year to provide our members and visitors with a wide variety of information on family history topics.
Our Special Interest Groups also hold meetings. Members of GSQ are welcome to attend.

Scottish Interest Group Meeting Dates 2026
The Scottish Interest Group
Aims:
- To provide assistance to those researching Scottish ancestors.
- To provide resources to assist in research; providing opportunities to talk to other researchers; and organising presentations about subjects connected with Scottish genealogy, culture and history.
- Via attending the Gaelic Festival each year and not only having a great time talking to everyone about GSQ and the Scottish Group, but to encourage those interested to come along and join us.
Meetings: Meetings are held on the 1st Sunday of the odd months of the year, unless otherwise advertised.The meetings are Hybrid, meaning the meeting is held at the GSQ Resource Centre but also via Zoom to assist anyone who is unable to attend in person that day.
2026: 4th Jan; 1st March; 3rd May; 5th July; 6th Sept; 1st Nov.

May 3rd: Intro to Research with ScotlandsPeople & GSQ Records – Alistair Henderson
July 5th: Bute & Arran Records – Marie Rosborugh
Sept 6th: Using NRS Records & Sasines – Alistair Henderson
Nov 1st: Selkirk Records – Leanne Taylor
The GSQ Resource Centre, 25 Stackpole Street, Wishart opens at 9:30 am and closes at 2:00 pm. The meeting commences at 10am and runs for about two hours, with the remaining time for members to conduct their own research.
Attendees are asked to contribute a gold coin donation.

How to book an Education Event
If you are a GSQ member you need to Sign In to purchase a ticket.
If you are a QFHS member, an Affiliate or Corporate of GSQ, you must enter the code you have obtained from your secretary into the requested area in order to receive the discount.

Transfer funds to GSQ’s bank account – details are provided at the time of booking.

For all courses, bookings are essential and must be completed Online.
Also, please note that the GSQ education program is prepared many months in advance. Occasionally, changes need to be made due to circumstances which are out of GSQ’s control.
