Genealogy Queensland conducts a program of events including classes, seminars, workshops and education sessions each year to provide our members and visitors with a wide variety of information on family history topics.
Our Special Interest Groups also hold meetings. Members of GSQ/QFHS are welcome to attend.

Where There’s a Will There Should be a Genealogist
Wills and probate records are among the richest—but sometimes overlooked—sources for Australian family history. Far more than inventories of money and property, these records may reveal family relationships, occupations, residences, social connections, personal tensions and the final wishes of our ancestors. Even when a person died intestate, probate files can identify spouses, children, siblings, creditors and other relatives, sometimes across several generations and countries.
We’ll explore the probate process, and the records created, from wills, grants of probate and letters of administration to inventories, affidavits, succession-duty documents and contentious estate files.
Whether your ancestor was wealthy, of modest means or left no will at all, their estate may have generated evidence that brings their life—and their family—into sharper focus.

Helen is a speaker, DNA specialist, researcher, and author with a strong interest in medical and social history. She has spoken in person and online in every state and territory in Australia, and internationally in Canada, USA, New Zealand and England, on 15 Unlock the Past cruises and has regularly presented for Legacy Family Webinars. She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Genealogical Speakers Guild.

How to book an Education Event
If you are a GSQ member you need to Sign In to purchase a ticket.
If you are a QFHS member, an Affiliate or Corporate of GSQ, you must enter the code you have obtained from your secretary into the requested area in order to purchase tickets.
